Job Summary :
Performs work involving repairing, overhauling, and servicing various money-changing machines, vending machines, and Micro Market equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Repairs broken machines, locates worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts through visual preventative maintenance checks, selects tools, and determines the method and techniques to follow depending on the machines.
- Determines parts required, obtaining replacement information from manufacturer's parts manual or by comparison with samples removed.
- Ensures adjustments meet manufacturer's specifications, uses voltage regulator circuit testers, etc., as required.
- Disassembles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, overhauls, modifies, calibrates, and tunes electronic, refrigeration, and mechanical components and associated equipment such as dollar bill changers, microwave ovens, vending machines, coin acceptors, and similar equipment.
- Periodically overhauls machines, involving spray painting, reconnecting loose wires, checking refrigeration systems for proper temperatures, etc., and sanitizes for bacteria.
- Cleans interior, checks for defects, ensures wire harnesses are tied, and checks for short circuits.
- Notifies supervisor of major problems encountered.
- Inspects and tests to diagnose malfunctions, referring to standard and manufacturer repair manuals, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, tables, and charts.
- Determines if equipment is economically repairable or should be declared unserviceable.
- Prepares reports on unsatisfactory equipment, specifying faults and materials needed for repair.
- Replaces or repairs defective circuit elements, printed circuit boards, miniaturized integrated circuits, transformers, capacitors, resistors, etc.
- Completes alignments and adjustments, makes final operational tests and adjustments prior to release.
- Uses a variety of test equipment, including frequency meters, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, tube testers, signal generators, etc., to localize trouble.
- Utilizes hand and power tools and shop test equipment common to electrical trades.
- Responsible for the security of equipment.
- Prepares requisitions for parts, maintains stock of parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring tools are protected from rust and loss, and keeps manuals up-to-date.
- Relocates and installs new machines at designated locations.
- Performs setting and adjustments on food, liquid, and coin charger units.
- Operates motor vehicles for duties, loads / unloads equipment, and ensures protection from damage or weather.
- Prepares daily trip reports, inspects vehicle maintenance, and maintains records of repairs.
- Handles vending machine cash collections, verifies cash with vendors, and makes refunds as needed.
- May be assigned to clean and maintain laundry rooms and support vending routes during NEX business needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work involves standing, climbing, bending, working in cramped positions, and handling objects from 10 to over 50 pounds, sometimes in outdoor or shop environments.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mostly indoor work; outdoor work may be required in various weather conditions. Exposure to dirt, dust, grease, and potential injuries is possible.
REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid state driver's license or CDL.Knowledge and skills to operate a motor vehicle safely.Ability to pass background checks, including security clearances if required.Must pass the GSA defensive driving course.Total of 6 years' experience, including :
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
One year of experience in general repair in wholesale, retail, service, or recreational establishments, or substitution with education (e.g., high school diploma or GED).
AND
Five years of experience in repairing, overhauling, installing, servicing, and diagnosing mechanical and electronic machinery.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing, climbing, bending, working in cramped positions, handling objects from 10 to 60 pounds, occasionally over 100 pounds, including vending machines.
