About The Role
NCR Voyix is hiring an experienced, hands-on UX Accessibility Specialist to join our team and help shape the future of retail through intuitive, scalable, and impactful user experiences. You will ensure the integrity QA of our production environment and advocate for inclusion, equity, and accessibility. Collaborate with colleagues to design intuitive experiences that meet business and user needs and conform to accessibility guidance. You will ensure that all design and accessibility conformance is maintained throughout the UX organization by supporting the QA team to ensure features are implemented as intended. You will have a voice in the design process and take ownership of validating experiences before and during development. The UX Digital Accessibility Specialist will help build the correct interface and user interaction as the product is designed and developed.
We are looking for someone passionate about solving real human problems with research-backed solutions, who cares about the small details as much as the big picture, and can balance creating quality design work while leading a team of contractors designing alongside you. Our team operates in the Product Organization under NCR Voyix’s Chief Product Officer and reports into the Director of User Experience. You’ll be joining a team of over 20 UX professionals in disciplines including UX Design, UX Architecture, Strategy, Research, and Service Design.
Responsibilities Accessibility Strategy & Leadership — Define and drive the accessibility strategy for multiple products & services; advocate for inclusive design throughout the product lifecycle; stay updated on global accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA, Section 508, EN 301 549, EAA), certifications, and emerging trends; train team members on accessibility guidelines and user-centric design practices; collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulations; engage with external accessibility auditors for compliance reviews and VPAT authoring; stay informed & communicate new standards or upcoming changes across the organization.
Design and Testing — Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate accessibility best practices into product design; establish QA processes with engineering to ensure accessibility work is implemented properly; conduct audits of digital products to identify accessibility issues using tools like Axe and WAVE, and via manual testing; create wireframes, prototypes, and design systems that prioritize accessibility; document and communicate accessibility recommendations to stakeholders.
Documentation — Document accessibility efforts, including compliance reports and testing outcomes; create guidelines & frameworks for UX designers and developers to follow; manage VPAT and ACR library for products.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Discipline
3-5 years of Accessibility experience
Proven experience in UI / UX design with a focus on accessibility
Examples of previous work with ability to explain contributions
Section 508 Certified
Experience as a web & touchscreen accessibility specialist
Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 or higher
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
Familiarity with assistive technologies (screen readers, voice recognition software, keyboard navigation)
Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and ARIA landmarks
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience collaborating with advocacy groups for individuals with disabilities
Nice to Have Thought leadership in the accessibility space
Experience setting up and managing large programs
Experience conducting user testing with people with disabilities (remote and in-person)
Experience in retail industry
CPACC certification
Experience authoring VPATs and / or ACRs
