Job Description\n\nOverview\n\nM Health Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN. This position is 64 hours per two weeks on the day / evening shift, 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, working hours are 0630-1900. Position includes off premise call on weekends (3-4 per year), holidays (1 per year), and nights (once every 2-3 weeks). We have six OR's that manage surgical patients following best practice standards as set forth by the Association of Operating Room Nurses. We specifically have a focus on General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, Podiatry, OB / GYN, Plastics, ENT, and Ophthalmology. Our patients are over 16 years of age, as we do not have pediatric specialties. At any time, you may also check your application status online in your Fairview applicant profile.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nThe RN serves as the key leader of the interdependent team and is responsible to achieve patient and unit outcomes by coordinating the care for a group of patients. This includes comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on the needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; monitoring the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.\n
- Demonstrates commitment to principles of the patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) and achieving the Woodwinds nursing vision and strategy\n
- Utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to coordinate outcome focused patient care. Throughout this process, also understands and incorporates holistic nursing theory based on Watson's Theory of Caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association whenever holistic therapy is offered\n
- Communicates effectively with patient / family, physicians, the interdependent team, and other disciplines regarding the plan of care\n
- Assesses and documents learning needs of the patient and family. Develops an individualized education plan for patients and families based on identified needs\n
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements at the point of care to achieve clinical quality, customer experience, nursing engagement, and efficiency and effectiveness outcomes\n
- Complies with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, board of nursing requirements, patient safety requirements, infection control practices, and other established practice standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures\n
- Coordinates the interdependent team while promoting collaborative teamwork and cooperation\n
- Actively participates in the development and achievement of department goals (safety, cost, quality, patient experience, employee engagement)\n
- Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards\n
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements\n\nQualifications\n\nRequired Qualifications : \n
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS)\n
- Valid RN Licensure from MN Board of Nursing\n\nMust meet one of these requirements : \n
- Associate degree RN or BSN with OR RN experience\n
- BSN RN preferred with 2 years of OR RN experience\n
- RN with current hospital experience and successful completion of Peri-op 101 course\n
- New Grad RN with 3 years of Clinical OR experience\n\nIf New Grad : \n
- Graduate of School of Nursing with successful completion of NCLEX prior to start date\n
- Associate Degree with letter of acceptance to BSN program within 6-12 months of start date as RN\n\nHiring Process\n
