Overview
Automation Service Engineers are responsible for providing technical expertise and owning the success of the relationship with an assigned set of customers to achieve the goals identified by the customer and BD. The position includes on-site support for BD Lab Automation customers, including installation, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, removals, and other support as needed.
Responsibilities
- Onsite support for install and service of sophisticated diagnostic laboratory automation instrumentation with minimal direct supervision. Responds to emergency customer requests via dispatch and completes work in accordance with ISO and GMP standards.
- Apply problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose hardware / software issues, implement corrective actions, and complete system repairs.
- Upgrade systems to enable compatible software on all computers.
- Work independently diagnosing and solving issues using schematics, diagrams, service manuals, and other technical documentation.
- Contribute to the maintenance and implementation of service documentation, providing feedback to improve documentation efficiency in the lab automation field service organization.
- Complete service documentation as required, or as requested by other business functions, in accordance with GMP requirements.
- Report and detail all customer complaints in appropriate systems of record for resolution and investigation.
- Manage trunk stock inventory within limits established by the Recommended Spare Parts Inventory list.
- Maintain calibrated test equipment and tools in good working condition and track calibration dates.
- Provide on-call support per published schedules or on short notice as required to support business needs.
- Work shift : 10 AM – 7 PM.
Qualifications
Associate Degree in a technical field with 3-5 years Electrical / Electronics / Informatics / Mechatronics / Biomedical experience.Strong understanding of electronics, electromechanical devices, PLCs, and pneumatics.Intermediate knowledge of information systems networking architecture and setup.Intermediate understanding of computer operating systems and ability to work with IT personnel to schedule and complete routine software upgrades and maintenance.Understanding of basic computer security concepts and standard processes.Proficient in performing software installations and upgrades.Valid state-issued driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history and ability to meet auto safety standards.Ability to work flexible hours and travel to various US customer locations; on-call availability as needed.Willingness to travel up to 50% outside the home geographic area, based on business needs.Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 70 lbs infrequently.Must be able to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods (up to 10 hours).Must be able to push / pull materials up to 100 lbs.Comply with PPE standards as required by company policy.Why Join Us?
