Overview
Under the direction of an Advising Unit Coordinator and as part of the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences Undergraduate Academic Advising Center (CNAS UAAC), this position will be responsible for academic advising of undergraduate students in Life Science majors (Biochemistry, Biology, Plant Biology, Neuroscience, Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology, Entomology, and Microbiology) or Physical Science (Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Physics) majors using the principles of developmental, academic advising and knowledge of teaching and learning theory to promote student development and academic success.
Responsibilities
- Advise potential and enrolled students; monitor each student's progress toward degree completion.
- Inform students, academic advisors, faculty, and staff of policies and procedures pertaining to undergraduate student affairs; refer students to appropriate support services.
- Analyze academic trends and collaborate with other professional academic advisors and departments to meet student advising needs.
- Participate in the preparation and / or maintenance of descriptive materials for majors.
- Prepare and submit catalog copy and quarterly Schedule of Classes.
- Facilitate processes for undergraduate course revisions and program changes.
- Represent the CNAS UAAC at outreach and retention activities, including recruitment, orientation, and advising events (e.g., Highlander Orientation, Academic Success Workshops, Discover / Welcome Days, college fairs).
- Work distribution : approximately 80% academic advising (administration of enrolled student majors), 15% academic advising support, and 5% other duties as assigned.
- Work arrangement may be hybrid; schedule and location are subject to change based on operational needs.
Employment Details
Salary range : full range $25.43 - $42.96 hourly; expected hiring range $25.43 - $31.25 hourly.Acceptance requires current work authorization for a UCR staff position.Hybrid work schedule with a balance of on-campus and remote days.University policies and / or collective bargaining agreements apply; federal, state, or local directives may impose additional requirements.Notes
