Position description

The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) is a self-supporting unit within the University of California, funded through student fees. Part-time instructor positions are on a course-by-course contractual basis and are not faculty positions.

Online teaching positions are available in the Paralegal Certificate Program. Qualified applicants should have current knowledge and / or teaching experience in areas such as :

• Fundamentals of the Paralegal Profession
• Contracts
• Legal Writing
• Legal Research
• Civil Litigation I & II
• Ethics for the Paralegal
• Technology Practicum for the Paralegal
• Legal Career Skills
• Corporate Law
• Family Law
• Torts
• Criminal Law
• Intellectual Property

Instructor duties include developing / updating syllabi, preparing and delivering online materials, utilizing Canvas LMS, evaluating student achievement, and participating in training and administrative tasks. The curriculum is regularly updated to ensure relevance and practical application.

This is an ongoing recruitment accepting applications throughout the year for courses starting as early as Spring quarter (April 1, 2025). All agreements are on a course-by-course basis without guaranteed ongoing involvement.

Qualifications

Basic : Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution, extensive legal experience as a paralegal or attorney, willingness to learn instructional technology.

Additional : Proficiency in subject area, high standards of integrity, excellent communication skills, professional engagement, and comfort dealing with international students.

Preferred : Curriculum design experience, college-level teaching or corporate equivalent.
