Preconstruction Executive

My client has been in the Indy market for 55 years servicing multiple repeat clients and the local communities. They are a design / build firm whose unique approach allows them to secure relationship based work and have strong connections in the market. They have a very diverse portfolio that consists of faith-based projects, office buildings, restaurant / retail, and automotive projects. They operate on integrity, problem solving, and collaboration at their forefront and are looking for someone who is an asset to their leadership team and culture. The Preconstruction Executive will :

  • Preconstruction Leadership & Department Development
  • Build and lead the preconstruction department, including staffing, systems, and processes.
  • Develop and implement preconstruction protocols, estimating tools, and project budgeting frameworks.
  • Collaborate with design and project management teams to ensure seamless project delivery from concept to construction.
  • Oversee bid preparation, subcontractor engagement, and value engineering efforts.
  • Strategic Growth & Executive Collaboration
  • Partner with the President to define and execute long-term business strategies.
  • Contribute to organizational planning, including market expansion, service offerings, and operational improvements.
  • Participate in executive decision-making and leadership meetings.
  • Business Development & Client Engagement
  • Support business development efforts by providing technical expertise during client pitches and proposal development.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
  • Talent Acquisition & Team Building
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing preconstruction and construction professionals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The Successful Preconstruction Executive :

  • 15+ years of experience in commercial construction, with a strong background in preconstruction and estimating.
  • Proven leadership experience in building and scaling teams.
  • Deep understanding of design / build delivery methods and commercial construction practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
