Litigation Legal Assistant Summary
As a litigation legal assistant, you will primarily be working with a shareholder and an associate attorney with a busy insurance defense and general litigation practice in Arizona and New Mexico. The primarily responsibilities will include court filings and service of documents, docketing deadlines, and managing attorneys’ calendars. The ideal candidate is highly organized, excels at multi-tasking and prioritization, and has familiarity with State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. This role has a 37.5-hour workweek with the benefit of one assigned work-from-home day a week.
Responsibilities
- File and organize legal documents and correspondence in internal document management system. iManage experience a plus.
- File and serve court documents in courts through TurboCourt and Pacer / CM / ECF.
- Serve discovery, correspondence and other legal documents and maintain accurate case service lists.
- Set up new client files and organize client documents and file materials.
- Research various processes and procedures online and contact with courts and bar associations.
- Enter time and insurance codes into billing system. Perfectlaw experience a plus.
- Manage attorney reimbursements and prepare expense reports.
- Conduct document review for accuracy and completeness.
- Proofread legal documents for grammar, spelling, and formatting errors.
- Assist with paralegal tasks as necessary such as printing and preparation of documents for trial, hearings or mediations.
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing calendars.
- Write and prepare legal correspondence, memos, and reports.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff.
- Contact with clients as needed.
Requirements
3 – 5 years of litigation legal assistant experience.Knowledge of deadlines under the Arizona Rules of Civil Procedure, New Mexico Rules of Civil Procedure, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.Willingness to research other jurisdictions deadlines as needed.Strong organizational skills to effectively manage and maintain files and documents.Ability to prioritize tasks.Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in document review and proofreading.Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures to assist with paralegal tasks.Proficient in clerical tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and phone etiquette.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for legal correspondence and client interactions.Ability to conduct research using online databases and resources.Compensation and Benefits
