Cleveland Clinic offers long-term services to meet the different needs of patients. Chronic therapies, including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, are a lifeline supporting patients until kidney transplant. As an RN in the Dialysis ICU, you will provide care to patients who need hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, intermittent hemodialysis, prolonged intermittent renal
replacement therapy and continuous renal replacement therapy. An RN in this role will be highly inspired to obtain the BONENT certification. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts.
A caregiver who excels in this role will :
Provide direct nursing care.Implement and monitor patient care plans.Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :
Graduate from an accredited School of Professional NursingCurrent state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red CrossExternal candidates : two years of recent acute care (ICU, critical care, PCU) RN experienceInternal candidates with less than two years of experience, but are post-orientation / 90-day probationary period, may be considered with CNO level review and approvalLicensed military RN experience will be consideredInpatient hospital experiencePreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)Dialysis experiencePhysical Requirements :
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.Exposure to communicable diseases and / or body fluids.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Personal Protective Equipment :
