The Director of Talent Development will design, implement, and oversee organizational strategies that strengthen workforce capability, employee engagement, and leadership readiness. This role requires a strategic leader who can partner with executive leadership, HR, and union representatives to build a high-performing workforce and a culture of continuous learning.
Candidates with experience in educational settings and unionized environments will bring valuable insight to the unique challenges of developing talent in complex, multi-stakeholder organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive talent development strategy aligned with organizational goals.
Partner with senior leadership to identify future skill needs, succession gaps, and leadership pipeline priorities.Learning & Development ProgramsLead the design and delivery of training, coaching, and professional development programs across all levels of the organization.
Implement leadership academies, mentorship initiatives, and skill-based training tailored to organizational needs.Ensure programming reflects both organizational goals and compliance with labor agreements.Collaborate with union leadership and HR to create fair, equitable, and effective employee development opportunities.Serve as a liaison in addressing training-related provisions within collective bargaining agreements.Performance & Career DevelopmentOversee systems for employee development planning, including career pathways and succession planning.
Introduce frameworks for performance feedback, coaching, and growth opportunities.Change Management & CultureDrive cultural initiatives that enhance employee engagement, DEI efforts, and organizational adaptability.
Provide leadership support during organizational transitions, including contract changes, new technologies, and structural shifts.Measurement & ImpactEstablish metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and report results to executive leadership.
Continuously refine development programs based on employee feedback, business outcomes, and workforce needs.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field (Master's preferred).10+ years of progressive HR, L&D, or talent management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Demonstrated success in building and scaling talent development strategies in complex organizations.Proven experience collaborating within a unionized workforce ; understanding of collective bargaining agreements and their impact on training and development.Strong facilitation, coaching, and change management skills.Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building abilities.Why Join Us?
