Description :

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit.

The role involves caring for patients with various post-surgical needs.

Patient types include HPB patients, women's surgery cases, and plastic surgery patients.

Common diagnoses in this unit consist of Whipple procedures, liver resections, hysterectomies, and breast reconstructions.

Patient ratios are typically 1 : 4-6, with possible variations during surge times.

Required skills include drain care, central line management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.

The unit works collaboratively with support staff, including CNAs and charge nurses.

The use of technology includes EMR systems, IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring.

There may be a requirement to float to other facilities within the region if necessary.

Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other week and holiday expectations.

Strong teamwork is emphasized as a core part of the unit's culture.
