• Ability to work every other weekend
• Comfortable floating to MedSurg if necessary

Description :

The unit has a 50-mile radius rule.

Candidates must provide a copy of their unexpired driver's license.

The unit consists of 4 beds.

The required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS.

The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4.

The unit is generally staffed with 1 RN and always has a tech available.

A MedSurg nurse may be floated to assist if needed.

Charge nurses will assist in staffing for MedSurg and take patient assignments as required.

There are Nurse Aides and Patient Care Technicians (PCT) for both shifts.

There is always 1 PCT in the ICU alongside the RN.

Weekend requirements include working every other weekend.

Holidays will rotate into the permanent staff schedule.

Scrub colors are flexible.

Phillips cardiac monitors are hard-wired in each room, with a central monitor station.

The unit administers all typical ICU drips.

The facility has 6 ventilators available for use.

Both Hospitalist and Intensivist are in-house 7 days a week.

From 1900 to 0700, a Nurse Practitioner is also in-house every day.

Respiratory Therapy is available 24 / 7.

Pharmacy services are available 24 / 7, with a pharmacist on-site during daytime hours.

The shifts for RNs and CNAs are all 12 hours : 0645 - 1915 and 1845 - 0715.

Floating outside the ICU is limited to those comfortable with it.

Orientation to the floor will consist of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor.

Common diagnoses and types of patients include COVID-pneumonia, post-operative cases (ortho, urology), COPD, CHF, and typical MedSurg ICU patients.

The cancellation policy allows for 2 shift cancellations per 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks.

The charting system used is EpicCare Inpatient - EMR.
