This role is integral to maintaining the financial health and integrity of our operations.
Job Purpose : The Internal Control Officer will work with the Internal Control Manager to develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's internal control framework. This role focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and driving operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Work with stakeholders to design, implement, and enhance the companys internal control framework to ensure robust risk management and compliance.
Oversee the documentation, testing, and evaluation of internal controls across various functions, reporting to the internal control manager.
Ensure ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement of internal controls across the organization.
Conduct periodic risk assessments to identify key financial, operational, and compliance risks and report findings to the internal control manager and stakeholders.
Lead risk mitigation initiatives and develop action plans in collaboration with relevant departments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and control enhancements.
Recommend best practices and provide strategic direction to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
Assist in designing new processes, policies, and procedures to mitigate operational risks and strengthen internal controls.
Support internal and external audit engagements by providing necessary documentation, control evidence, and explanations.
Act as a liaison between the company and external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process and address identified issues.
Coordinate corrective action plans for audit findings and ensure timely resolution.
Prepare regular reports on the status of internal controls, risks, and compliance.
Present findings, recommendations, and updates on control activities to executives and other stakeholders.
Ensure clear and effective communication regarding control improvements, risk management, and compliance across the business.
Ensure access rights align with job responsibilities and are periodically reviewed to prevent unauthorized usage.
Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement robust security measures, monitor access logs, and address potential breaches promptly.
Develop and deliver training programs to enhance awareness of internal controls, compliance standards, and risk management practices within the organization.
Promote the adoption of best practices and ensure that employees understand their role in maintaining effective internal controls.
Key Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in internal controls, risk management, or compliance in the finance sector.
Familiar with designing and enhancing internal control frameworks and risk mitigation.
Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Experience coordinating with auditors and resolving findings efficiently.
Skills in managing access controls and cybersecurity measures.
Ability to conduct risk assessments and recommend process improvements.
Awareness of financial regulatory standards and frameworks.
Integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
