Crown Cork & Seal in Effingham, South Carolina is a state-of-the-art facility that produces various size food cans with one of South Carolina's leading Food producers as a major client.  We are looking for dynamic individuals to join our team. This is your opportunity to join Crown's global organization. We are currently looking for a Mechanic.

\n\n

Position Overview

\n\n

This position will be responsible for maintaining, operating, and monitoring the quality of production lines. This position reports directly to the Production Manager.

\n\n

Duties and Responsibilities-Essential Functions

\n\n \n\t

  • Start and maintain machines to determine efficiency and quality

\n\t

  • Monitor and problem-solve processes or equipment for quality and productivity

    • \n\t

  • Complete quality checks utilizing precision equipment to ensure the product is within all control limits

    • \n\t

  • Take ownership of line equipment which includes daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance

    • \n\t

  • Diagnose and problem-solve mechanical / electrical problems by utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs

    • \n\t

  • Dismantle and reassemble machinery with hand tools, jacks, hoists, and other applicable tools to complete repairs, changeovers, or maintenance work

    • \n\t

  • Ability to use and read measuring equipment to make the necessary adjustments to machines

    • \n\t

  • Own and operate production equipment following current GMPs and SOPs

    • \n\t

  • Adhere to all food safety policies and procedures

    • \n \n\n

    Performs other duties as required or assigned

    Qualifications

    \n\n

    Minimum Requirements

    \n\n \n\t

  • Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift

    • \n\t

  • 1-3 years of experience working on the preventative maintenance or repair of machinery

    • \n \n\n

    Preferred requirements

    \n\n \n\t

  • Certification from a technical trade school

    • \n\t

  • Previous experience in high-speed manufacturing

    • \n \n\n

    Required Knowledge

    \n\n \n\t

  • Equipment Maintenance : Knowledge of performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed

    • \n\t

  • Mathematics : Basic mathematical skills to include knowledge of working within .001 of an inch

    • \n\t

  • Mechanical : Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

    • \n\t

  • Safety : General knowledge of operating safely on applicable machinery to include forklift operation and lockout-tagout

    • \n \n\n

    \n\n \n\t

  • Computer use : Use of computer software to include scanning materials onto outgoing trucks and printing appropriate pallet tags

    • \n\t

  • Critical Thinking : Use of logic and reasoning to identify potential solutions or approaches to problems

    • \n\t

  • Customer Service : Display customer needs assessment and meet quality standards for service to include the needs of team members

    • \n\t

  • Monitoring : Monitor and assess performance in yourself, others, and production to make improvements and take corrective action

    • \n\t

  • Time Management : Prioritize duties to most efficiently accomplish tasks and maintain productivity

    • \n\t

  • Tool Usage : Read and utilize scales, micrometers, dial indicators, and related equipment

    • \n\t

  • Troubleshooting : Determining causes of operating errors and identifying solutions

    • \n \n\n

  • Communication : Ability to read and write English and interpret spoken direction

    • \n\t

  • Manual Dexterity : Ability to quickly move the hand, fingers, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects

    • \n\t

  • Organization : Ability to maintain an organized work area

    • \n \n\n

  • Occasional kneeling, crouching, and climbing required

    • \n\t

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

    • \n\t

  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying of moderately heavy objects (20-50 lbs)

  • Frequent standing for extended periods
