Location : Northern Suburbs of Chicago, IL

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000

Our client, a well-established construction company located in the northern suburbs of Chicago, is seeking a Project Accountant with strong construction payroll and accounts payable expertise to join their growing team. Responsibilities :

Process weekly union and non-union payroll, reconcile field timesheets to job cost labor reports, input data, and prepare all required payroll reports.

Review and input vendor invoices, match against purchase orders, process payments, handle vendor inquiries, manage expense reimbursements, calculate and process sales / use tax, and maintain corporate credit card records.

Prepare timely and accurate billings, including AIA contract documents, time & material invoices, lien waivers, change orders, and certified payroll reports.

Maintain integrity of the job cost system by ensuring timely and accurate coding of payroll, AP, and job cost activities.

Assist in documentation and implementation of a new accounting system.

Perform other related tasks to support the accounting department as needed.

Qualifications :

Minimum 5 years' construction accounting experience , including payroll, union reporting, accounts payable, billing, and job cost.

Strong knowledge of project accounting and construction industry practices.

Proficiency with accounting and billing software; experience with construction-specific platforms is a plus.

Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
