What You’ll Do
As an Occupational Therapist , you will evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and provide therapy interventions to restore function, prevent disability, and maximize independence and quality of life following disease, injury, or surgery.
Occupational Therapist Job Responsibilities
Evaluate and assess patients to determine therapy needs.
Plan individualized treatment programs and establish appropriate goals.
Educate patients and caregivers on treatment goals, therapy techniques, and expected outcomes.
Perform treatments using evidence-based procedures, equipment, and techniques within the scope of occupational therapy.
Instruct patients and families on home programs and injury prevention.
Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and reassessments in the medical record.
Reassess patients, monitor progress, and recommend next steps or disposition.
Collaborate with physicians, referral sources, and healthcare team members.
Supervise and provide direction to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), assistants, interns, volunteers, and aides.
Assist with department operations, including supplies, equipment, and staff meetings.
Complete other assignments and projects as needed.

Required Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
License : Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in Indiana.
Skills : Proficiency in evaluation tools, modalities, exercise equipment, ADL aides, splinting / orthotic materials, and outpatient OT practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
Working Conditions
Patient care environment requiring physical exertion and frequent changes in job demands.
Possible exposure to biohazards and environmental risks common to healthcare settings.
Physical Demands
Requires stamina, visual acuity, and manual dexterity to sit, walk, or stand for long periods.
Ability to push carts / wheelchairs, lift or position patients / supplies, and perform CPR as needed.
