Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager leads a team of supervisors and process engineers devoted to the development and delivery of solutions to support the quality, performance and delivery of products, the health and safety of employees as well as the enhancement of value to customers. The Maintenance Manager collaborates interdepartmentally to plan, establish, and execute a robust maintenance plan with a focus on excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Deliverables :

  • Develop and maintain a constant safety environment and provide necessary training updates while striving for zero incidents and full compliance with OSHA and plant standards.
  • Develop and manage annual operating plans / budgets for the engineering / maintenance department.
  • Directs and coordinates the activities of the plant maintenance / engineering functions for the entire site (building, grounds, all equipment both operations and support).
  • Ensure the maintenance / engineering department complies with Environmental, Health & Safety, and Food Safety standards as set forth in plant policies / programs.
  • Assist the plant EHS manager to ensure compliance with site environmental and health / safety requirements.
  • Establish a program for MRO spare parts storage, tracking and tooling inventories.
  • Lead development of Central Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Lead and develop a TPM (total productive maintenance) system for the plant.
  • Directs information to the plant manager, department heads, and group level manufacturing engineering with appropriate reports in all areas of plant engineering to ensure the efficient and consistent operation of the department within the plant.
  • Forge excellent cross-functional relationships between engineering, quality, and operations.
  • Manage the plant CAPEX budget; To include writing capital requests, and evaluates project ROI's and monitors / tracks the pending of the various projects.
  • Directs necessary level of contact with the local, state, and federal agencies so that plant management is aware of any / all issues or changes occurring within area of responsibility.
  • Lead plant efforts for a "greener" operation waste reduction, water conservation type projects.
  • Assist Operation efforts to continually improve OEE and Spoilage results.
  • Manages staff provides staff with coaching, training to develop skills and gives ongoing constructive and timely feedback on performance / progress towards goals and expectations.
  • Hires employees, manages dismissals, and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Member of HARA team.
  • Completes other tasks reasonably commensurate with the role, as needed.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or significant experience in a related / similar field.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical skills and ability to work through complex problems.
  • Strong leadership, planning, organization, presentation, and communications skills.
  • 8 years job related experience - food safety manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • 4 years supervisory / leadership experience.
  • Experience leading and driving continuous improvement projects.
  • Experience with driving business transformation using lean / 6 sigma methodology is a plus.
  • Experience using TPM methodologies is a plus.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities, establish and achieve goals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office : Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
