Construction Superintendent

Location : Los Angeles Area, CA (Hybrid)

Compensation : $32–$37 / hour (commensurate with experience)

Employment Type : Independent Contractor

Overview

Design Build Labs (DBL) is seeking a motivated and experienced Construction Superintendent to join our growing team. The candidate will work closely with firm principals, clients, architects, designers, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth coordination and delivery of complex projects. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary firm delivering innovative solutions across commercial construction, energy infrastructure, and redevelopment.

Leadership Responsibilities

Provide on-site supervision to monitor subcontractor performance, enforce safety standards, and verify that work is completed to spec.

Assist on Coordinating with architects, subcontractors, consultants, attorneys, and permitting authorities.

Track project progress using Smartsheet, Google Docs, and other cloud-based platforms.

Provide daily updates and follow-ups via phone, email, and text.

Take and update real-time meeting minutes using Google Drive.

Attend and contribute to virtual and in-person meetings with clients, permitting authorities, vendors, and contractors.

Support timely delivery of engineering and architectural packages for RFPs and ongoing projects.

Review drawing packages and coordinate among different engineering disciplines as needed.

Evaluate job progress, site logistics, and prepare detailed status reports.

Submit applications and documents to local Planning and Building departments.

Identify project resources (labor, materials, equipment), and track against budget and timeline.

Monitor inventory, handle procurement, and address shortages proactively.

Ensure compliance with landlord requirements (insurance, vendor access, etc.).

Maintain and update schedules, budgets, and documentation.

Qualifications

3+ years of construction project oversight preferred.

2+ years of trade experience in framing, electrical, or related field preferred.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) required

Highly organized with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Proficient in MS Office, Google Workspace, and cloud-based project management tools.

Deep understanding of construction codes, materials, blueprints, and project workflows.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of computer work and sitting.

Occasional standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, and verbal communication.

Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and reside in the Los Angeles area.

Visual ability to interpret drawings, plans, and electronic information.
