Troop Support Planner
Help Provides advice and technical guidance to direct the design, development, execution, and promulgation of operational and contingency plans.
Serves as the planner, advisor, and consultant to the assigned commands regarding logistics planning in support of DoD Executive Agent supply chain.
Evaluates operational plans and assesses supporting tasks and missions through day-to-day analysis and periodic testing during sponsored exercises.
Resolves operation plan shortfalls, limitations and other conditions that impact DLA's ability to perform its wartime logistics support mission.
Monitors agency planning initiatives and new initiatives to provide information for managers and support staff.
Collects and evaluates contingency operations to use as a basis for improving and revising DoD and DLA doctrine, directives, instructions, and support plans.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Troop Support Planner your resume and supporting documentation must support : Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.
To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off / closing date of the announcement.
Creditable specialized experience includes :
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands : The work involves walking to coordinate actions and to attend meetings. Some bending is required to remove plans and documents from lower drawers. Much of the work is performed while seated. During contingencies or exercises, incumbent may be required to work extended hours such as twelve hours on / twelve hours off for indefinite periods or be required to deploy into COCOM area of responsibility and live under physically demanding conditions.
Work Environment : Work is performed in a generally well heated / cooled, lighted, and fairly well ventilated office setting. Normal, everyday risks are encountered in moving from offices and buildings, in traveling by commercial vehicles to include various modes of transportation while on temporary duty away from the permanent duty station. When required to deploy into USCENTCOM area of responsibility for contingencies or exercises, work environment may be under field conditions, humid temperatures, or inclement weather.
Expeditionary Civilian This is an Expeditionary Civilian (EC) position, and the incumbent will be designated as (Emergency Essential) . In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent may be required to deploy via temporary reassignment or be required to stay in place to support contingency operations. The incumbent may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively; therefore, the position requires the incumbent to be screened from military recall. Military Reservists selected for an EC position must arrange for removal from the reserve component prior to appointment to an EC position. This requirement must be met prior to placement in an EC position. Positions identified as EE are subject to deployment to combat support situations. Deployment will be via Temporary Duty (TDY) orders. Deployment may entitle the employee to additional monetary compensation dependent upon the deployment location. Additional allocations are based on the Department of State's determination of a combat zone.
Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
Additional information This position is being filled as Term appointment not-to-exceed NTE 1 Year. Current permanent DLA employees eligible as a Promotion, this position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion NTE 1 year and may be extended up to a total of five years or converted to a permanent promotion without further competition. Current permanent DLA employees eligible as a Reassignment / Change-to-Lower Grade, this position will be filled as a Reassignment / Change-to-Lower Grade with the intent to be limited to the time period specified in the announcement and may be reassigned at management's discretion or made permanent at any time. Upon termination / expiration of the temporary assignment, placement will be either to the gaining or previous organization in accordance with DLA policy (DLAI 1442.04) regarding placement rights after a time-limited assignment.
