Description :

Fast-paced unit with critically ill patients.

Critical thinking skills are essential.

A personable and positive attitude is important.

Team player attributes help in being successful.

1 : 1 to 1 : 2 nurse to patient ratios in the ICU.

Common diagnoses include trauma injuries, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, and cardiac arrest.

Experience with CVPs, IABP, and Impella is preferred, but training will be provided for those without.

RNs will be responsible for titrating drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics.

Charge nurse will be present on each shift and will also take an assignment.

Patient care techs will assist on the unit with a ratio of 1 : 18.

RNs will need to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Self-scheduling is allowed, managed by the department manager based on unit needs.

Weekend shifts comprise of 4 shifts per 6-week scheduling period.

Floating to other inpatient units may be required, excluding certain areas.

Scrub color is navy blue.

RTO requests must be submitted upfront, with limited additional RTO approved.
