Director Of Operations - Cardiovascular Institute
In collaboration with the medical director of the Cardiovascular Institute, directs the strategic development and quality operations for the CV service line. This includes the Cardiology referral network, LBH Medical Group practices, and other cardiovascular programs. Employs a global perspective of emerging trends, issues, marketing, recruitment, and technology in the treatment of cardiovascular patients and directs the strategic planning, organization, management, service delivery, quality improvements and evaluation of multiple divisions and programs. Ensures the delivery of highest quality, most efficient and cost-effective patient care possible in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory guidelines.
Operations
- Prepares annual operating and capital budgets; approves purchases, monitors expenditures, and independently resolves discrepancies; reports monthly variances and action plan.
- Identifies specialty needs for services provided and coordinates the provision of those services.
- Prepares or directs the preparation of complex statistical analysis of physician actives from multiple areas and sources using spreadsheet software; identifies trends relative to indicators; monitors physician expenses.
- Directly, or through subordinates, prepares work schedules, maintains records of attendance, authorizes overtime, approves and processes leave requests, arranges staffing coverage accordingly etc.
- Oversees or performs staff hiring, establishment of performance objectives and assessment, appropriate implementation of Hospital HR policies, and maintenance of good staff relations; facilitates the mentoring of staff to assure professional growth.
Performance Improvement
Collaborates with other staff to direct the performance improvement process; incorporates TJC or other regulatory requirements in performance improvement plan, and monitors performance.Monitors performance of units and oversees or performs data collection and reporting on unit activities and performance.Develops and monitors patient satisfaction surveys; identifies and directs performance improvement initiatives if necessary to result in increases patient satisfaction.Ensures that required monitoring (core measures, patient safety goals) is completes based on relevance of goal to area of responsibility. Analyzes information and implements appropriate improvements or reports finding to peers or supervisors, along with recommendation for action.Research and Education
Establishes unit educational goals, provides training opportunities, and ensures that staff meet education requirements for licensure, registration, and accreditation.Collaborates with HR in development and implementation.Provider Services
Directs implementation plans for administrative and clinical systems to meet requirements of each plan.Meets with utilization review or provider relations credentialing officers to retain full physician participation status.Communicates review / survey findings as appropriate. Implements quality improvement measures as necessary.Fiscal Management
Develops financial projections; prepares and manages budgets to ensure optimum financial performance of assigned units, departments, or services areas.Leads division / dept in a cost-effective manner with a focus on labor and supply management.Assesses long-term capital and operational needs and ensures plans are in place to address these needs.Continuously manages performance against fiscal plan.Recommends ad / or develops business plans for proposed and existing programs in collaboration with others.Identifies major budget variances and financial trends; recommends potential areas of savings and revenue enhancement.Strategic Planning
Collaborates with Division Chiefs to develop programs, such as the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Program and Heart Failure Center. Recommends and / or develops business plans for proposed and existing programs in collaboration with others.Identifies and communicate trends, analyzes outcomes, and utilizes this information in planning CV service line programs.Leads staff in identifying customer needs; ensures integration into strategic plans and operations and directs development of excellent customer service.Considers the organizations strategic plans when developing and implementing dept plans to assure alignment at all levels. Develops marketing strategies and communication plans for program growth within the service line.Qualifications and Requirements
7+ years of relevant experience, including Cardiovascular service line operationsBachelor's degree required
