Raytheon provides end-to-end space solutions – from ground control systems to on-orbit sensors – to keep our customers informed and ahead of the threat.  Each day, ground stations receive vast amounts of data from satellites in orbit. Using complex algorithms, they process all of the bits and bytes received and turn them into useable information for the end users who consume this data. As the volume of data grows, ground stations need to evolve and adapt. In this role you will work onsite with a team of skilled Software Engineers developing Satellite Ground Stations Software in Java, C++, and Python.

What You Will Do

Develop and maintain Java, C++, and Python based applications for satellite ground systems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement robust server-side solutions.

Modify and improve existing codebases for enhanced performance and scalability.

Conduct software design and code reviews, integrating best practices and innovations.

Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to Agile principles.

Participate in system integration and project milestone completion under guidance from supervisors.

Keep abreast of advancements in Java and related technologies to drive continuous innovation.

What You Will Learn

Modern DevOps and Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery techniques.

Software lifecycle practices for defense projects.

The importance and workings of satellite ground systems.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and eight (8) years of relevant software engineering experience.

Experience with Java, C++ or Python software development in a Linux environment.

Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience working with the Atlassian Tool suite.

Experience developing software in an Agile and / or DevOps environments.

Previous work satellite GPS software desirable.

Experience troubleshooting or debugging software.

Experience with unit and automated functional test concepts.

Experience with some area of satellite ground system software such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, or flight dynamics models.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.
