Position Summary : The Marketing and Communications Specialist leads the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of Santa Maria’s marketing, communications, and public relations initiatives to advance the organization’s mission, visibility, and growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Planning
- In collaboration with the CEO and CDCO, develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications plan aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide strategic counsel to leadership on messaging, brand positioning, and market engagement.
- Identify and implement emerging marketing technologies and platforms to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Ensure consistent and effective communication of Santa Maria’s mission, vision, and values across all audiences.
- Participate in professional development and benchmarking to identify best practices and strengthen communication strategies.
Branding, Identity, and Content Development
Develop and maintain Santa Maria’s corporate image, branding standards, and visual identity, including logos, signage, and collateral materials.Oversee all creative development, production, and distribution of marketing and communication materials (brochures, newsletters, annual reports, event materials, etc.).Manage content creation for speeches, presentations, press releases, blogs, client stories, and digital campaigns.Develop and maintain a photo and media archive to document and promote Santa Maria’s history and impact.Public Relations and Media Relations
Establish and maintain strong relationships with media, government officials, community partners, and funders to promote Santa Maria’s mission.Lead public relations initiatives, including press outreach, media coverage, and crisis communications.Prepare and distribute media kits, organizational updates, and news releases.Identify opportunities for positive publicity and storytelling both internally and externally.Digital Strategy and Social MediaManage Santa Maria’s online presence, including website content, maintenance, and analytics.Develop and implement social media strategies to engage audiences and communicate program impact.Use digital tools to market programs, recruit participants, and strengthen community relationships.Marketing and Development Collaboration
Partner with the Development team to align marketing initiatives with fundraising and donor engagement goals.Support grant and event promotion through targeted marketing strategies and branded materials.Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to execute cohesive campaigns and events.Team Leadership and Operations
Oversee workflows, prioritize projects, and ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.Manage administrative responsibilities, including tracking activity, preparing reports, and communicating regularly with the CDCO.Adapt to evolving organizational needs and perform additional duties as assigned.Education / Experience :
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Marketing from four-year college or university; and three years of relevant work experience.
