Responsibilities Works in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) within a children’s hospital and Level II pediatric trauma center Patient population includes critically ill and complex pediatric cases Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 2 or 1 : 3 Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00 Weekend work is required on a variable basis Block scheduling is available Floating between units and potentially to sister facilities is required Epic EMR is utilized and prior experience is required Responsible for providing critical care nursing for pediatric patients in an intensive care setting Required to float as needed within the facility and to nearby sister facilities Must commit to working at least 3 out of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day) Navy scrubs must be worn by RNs Free parking is available in any unrestricted space First time travelers are welcome to apply Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month period All time off requests must be submitted up-front; extensive requests may delay or hinder consideration Requirements Active TX or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration At least 1 year of recent PICU experience is required Current BLS and PALS certifications required Completion of required modules before start and annually 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year within the last 3 years must be provided Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate Background checks must be clear of Nursys or background hits SSN and DOB must be provided as part of compliance Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-616678.
