Role Purpose
The Baler Operator position is responsible for operating baling equipment, maintaining cleanliness in the production area, handling recyclable materials, and supporting general labor needs throughout the facility. To ensure efficient, safe, and continuous operation of baling equipment while supporting facility cleanliness, assisting material handlers, and performing general labor tasks. This role is essential to maintaining workflow, managing recyclable materials, and contributing to a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility 1
- Operate baler machines to compress and bind recyclable materials such as cardboard plastic, scrap metal, etc. Monitor machine performance and perform routine equipment checks and notify maintenance personnel as needed.
- Monitor the baler to prevent jams or mechanical issues.
- Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on the baler.
Responsibility 2
Sort, load, and unload materials in a safe and efficient manner.Remove finished bales, tag them, and prepare them for transportFeed recyclable or waste material into the baler.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.Responsibility 3
Assist with general labor tasks including material handling, sweeping, and organizing inventory.Follow all company safety guidelines and procedures. Follow all LOTO procedures.Accurately complete logs, forms, and documentation as required.Record material weights, quantities, or other production data.Responsibility 4
Ensure all manufacturing equipment areas are fully stocked with raw or work-in-process materials to efficiently run production.Load and unload inbound / outbound trailers and trucks as necessary.Stage outgoing shipments.Inspect inbound material for BOL accuracy.Document received BOL in the receiving logbook as needed.Purge production lines of materials as needed; empty waste and scrap bins.Ensure forklift is fully safe to operate by filling out the forklift safety check sheet at the start of each shift; immediately report any and all damage to assigned equipment.Ensure trash compactors and open tops are used and not overfilled.Keep docks inside and out clean from trash and debris.Qualifications and Training :
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)Prior experience is an advantage.Preferred to have one (1) year of forklift experience with valid forklift licenses and driver's licenses –or- must pass MIOSHA Equipment Operator Permit for Powered Industrial Trucks.Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.Requirements
Work is typically performed in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.May require working in varying temperatures depending on type of materials handled.Ability to move materials in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.Ability to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for extended periods.The role requires the use of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory management.Basic communication skills for reporting, teamwork and coordination.Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to material handling.Ability to organize materials efficiently and following work instructions.Background Check is required however the company is felony friendly.
Drug test is required. THC does not disqualify an applicant as long as you are sober on the job.
$17.48 an hour. Raise and shift incentive upon being hired in.
