DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, your role will include conducting food service work and providing instruction to inmates through on-the-job vocational training. Your duties will involve teaching inmates about food preparation, production, service, and baking, in addition to safety and sanitation practices. You will also be responsible for ensuring that meals are prepared and served in a timely manner and that all food service areas and equipment meet safety and sanitation standards. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to review and adjust recipes based on the inmate population and menu data, as well as reduce waste by recycling leftover food into usable products. Other duties include requisitioning, receiving, and storing food and supplies; planning and reviewing inmate work assignments; conducting performance evaluations for inmate workers; and maintaining records for all inmate workers.
