Float Pool – ICU (CICU + SICU coverage)
Beds :
47 total (27 CICU + 16 SICU + other coverage as needed)
Staffing Ratio :
1 : 2 (Days, Nights, Weekends)
Shift Details :
12 hr (07 : 00–19 : 30 / 19 : 00–07 : 30)
Schedule :
Must cover weekends –
minimum 6 per contract, may exceed EOW
Float Required :
Yes, within scope to other units (including lower acuity)
Call Required : Yes
Charting System :
Epic; communication via SBAR
Scrubs :
Provided – Royal Blue
Required
Certifications :
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI / MAB
Experience :
Minimum 1 year recent ICU experience (CICU, SICU, Neuro, MICU, Trauma ICU, CVICU, etc.)
Skills :
Cardiac : post-cardiac surgery, IABP, Impella, LVAD / RVAD, TAVR, CABG, Swan-Ganz, CVP, dysrhythmia interpretation & management
Neuro : CVA / stroke, EVD, ICP monitoring, post-craniotomy / neurosurgery, TBI, spinal cord injury
Renal : CRRT / CVVHD, renal failure management
Respiratory : ventilator management, chest tubes, ABG interpretation, BiPAP / CPAP, HFNC, trach care, pulmonary embolism / failure
Critical drips : vasoactive, cardiac, sedation, paralytics, insulin protocols
Emergency : rapid response / code team experience
Lines : central / PICC / arterial line care, port access, blood product administration
Preferred
Previous Charge RN experience
Trauma Level I or II ICU experience
Teaching hospital or large community hospital background
Familiarity with ECMO (care / management, nurse-driven protocols)
Oncology / chemo experience
Unit Notes
Float Pool Pod A primarily covers
CICU & SICU
, but travelers must be willing to float to other ICUs or step-down as needed
High acuity cases, including post-surgical, multi-system failure, neuro / trauma, advanced cardiac interventions
Strong critical care background required; travelers must be fully independent on arrival
Orientation : 24 hours (condensed, fast-paced)
Other Information
Unit does not accept 1st time travelers
