Pea River Broadband is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pea River Electric Cooperative, a not-for-profit, member-owned distribution cooperative serving approximately 19,500 electric accounts. Pea River has built a state-of-the-art fiber-to-the home network that serves Barbour, Dale, and Henry Counties. Pea River is currently seeking a Broadband Technician / Installer.
Job Responsibilities :
- Install residential fiber optic cable (drops and jumpers) and related electronic components.
- Troubleshoot and repair broadband systems, verifying all components are working correctly.
- Must always maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and subscribers.
- Completes tasks in a way that minimizes outages and maximizes subscriber uptime.
- Maintain test equipment and tools for continuous use.
- Clean, maintain, stock and secure assigned vehicle and equipment.
- Participate, adhere to, and support all safety related policies, processes, and programs. Engage with your work team to ensure we achieve zero injuries. Understand that no job is so important that your safety, the safety of your crew, or public safety will be compromised. Watch for hazards and report any concerns to your supervisor or safety professional.
- Perform all other actions necessary to accomplish the foregoing principal duties and accountabilities. This may require working in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by supervisor.
- Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications :
Must be willing and able to climb a 28 ladder with appropriate safety equipment.Ability and willingness to hang multiple spans of drop cable from a ladder.Ability and willingness to work in crawl spaces or attics.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to distinguish between color variations.Knowledge of properfiber connector cleaning procedures.Manual dexterity and ability to work with hand tools.Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.Ability to workassigned shifts, including daily overtime, on-call, weekends, and holidays when necessary.High school diploma or GED.Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in clear terms.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time and priorities effectively.Must meet all cooperative requirements for DOT, drug and alcohol testing, and safety-sensitive roles.Fiber Optics Course Certification from an accredited educational institution and 1 year of field experience is preferred; additional experience will be considered in lieu of certification.Pea River Electric Cooperative is " An Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer including Veterans and Disabled."
