Overview
Zurich Services (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Risk Engineering Consultant to provide risk assessment and risk improvement services for customers and business partners in plant inspections for boilers and oversee the development of new strategies and programs to improve company competitiveness in risk engineering areas.
Responsibilities
- Provide jurisdictional inspections and machinery breakdown risk assessment services for customers and business partners.
- Provide intermediate machinery breakdown consultative services to customers, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential.
- Assess the quality of complex risks and assess loss potentials in accordance with defined guidelines.
- Provide risk improvement advice, conduct loss investigations, and implement risk improvement programs.
- Share technical expertise with colleagues, business partners and customers through trainings; anticipate, recognize and respond to customer needs with expert solutions and training.
- Develop and maintain positive customer and business partner relationships.
- Utilize established financial systems to assess loss potential and manage exposure to the organization.
- Prepare draft manuals based on changes to policies and procedures.
- Research primary data sources, select relevant information related to ordinary types of risks, and make recommendations to external customers.
- Act as technical expert supporting external customers; provide specialist risk improvement advice to address specific queries from internal clients and deliver risk improvement programs.
- Contribute to Business Operating Profit through opportunity spotting and cross selling.
- Travel requirements : weekly travel, typically 3-4 days per week, driving throughout CA counties (Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, and Santa Barbara) to meet with clients. Optional remote work from anywhere in the U.S.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, plus 2 years of experience in risk engineering or boiler and machinery roles.Must have 2 years of experience with : jurisdictional inspections and machinery breakdown risk assessment; intermediate consultative services; identifying exposures with significant loss potential; investigation of cause / effect of major losses and hazard / machinery breakdown management programs.National Board of Boiler Inspectors Certification, Competency Certification, or similar certification authorizing steam boiler inspections.Weekly travel 3-4 days per week, driving in CA counties; remote work option.Compensation and How to Apply
