Job Description
Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Advanced Surgical Consultant to join the Abiomed team in Detroit, Michigan. This position is field-based and not limited to listed locations; the cities in Locations are examples. You will work with Surgical Account Managers and clinical teams to drive growth and enable physicians and staff to recover hearts and save patients' lives using the Impella product portfolio.
Role & Responsibilities
- Train, educate, and support combined CT / Heart Failure programs on the use of the Impella 5.5 with SmartAssist
- Provide full customer immersion (including input on patient selection and surgical support) within 5.5 sites to ensure optimal outcomes
- Collaborate with Medical Office and Engineering teams to support EFS / PMA efforts and commercialization of the BTR pump and future surgical and heart failure technologies
- Offer device expertise and support for Impella 5.0 / LD to expand adoption beyond the 5.5 launch
- Support Breethe Oxy-1 device integration and system adaptation beyond initial launch
- Participate in launch, training, and education of combined Surgical / Heart Failure programs with the Breethe Clinical Team
- Collaborate with Commercial, Training, Engineering, Marketing, Professional Education, Clinical, and R&D teams
- Maintain contact with customers to evaluate clinical and educational needs
- Perform device training across the full Impella Surgical Device lineup
- Provide advanced acumen on durable, acute, and hemodynamic medical devices and best practices
- Build relationships with strategic partners and key opinion leaders
- Provide input to management on situations affecting clinical results and sales
- Call on Cardiac Surgeons, Heart Failure Cardiologists, OR teams, Intensivists, Perfusionists, and ICU / Step Down Unit teams
- Represent at major conferences (HFSA, AHA, STS, AATS, ISHLT) and advanced surgical courses
Job Requirements
Bachelors' Degree required; licensure as RNFA, NP, PA, or PerfusionistDirect (at the table) experience in Cardiac Surgery / Perfusion; 5+ years preferredDirect patient management experience in cardiothoracic ICU (post-op MCS or durable MCS) or direct CVOR assistingFamiliarity with cardiac surgery and OR protocolWillingness to travel; up to 50%-75% overnight travel depending on territoryPrevious Abiomed or Cardiac medical device experience preferredAbility to drive patient outcomesCompliance with all laws and regulations governing the medical device industryValid US driver's licenseThe anticipated base pay range is $125,000. The role participates in a sales incentive program. Company car available through the fleet program.
