Electrical Co-op / CAD Operator

M / E Engineering is currently interviewing students pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree for an Electrical Co-op / CAD Operator position in our Schenectady, NY office with an anticipated January 2026 start.  We are a full-service MEP engineering firm providing design and technology services to our clients.

Responsibilities Performs assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, and procedures in carrying out computer aided design (CAD) tasks.

Works under direct supervision of CAD Operator, Designer, or Engineer.

Supervisor screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work.

Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments.

Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features and solutions.

Performs conventional designs, investigations, and surveys for which there are standard procedures.

Prepares sketches and other activities of standard procedures and limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed.

Applies standard practices and techniques, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies and follows design through a series of related steps.

Prepare drawings, locates outlets and devices following detailed layouts, routine drawings.

Prepares drawings from architectural plans.

Copies details.

Inputs mechanical and / or electrical work from freehand sketches.

Files blueprints, catalogs, etc.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience A minimum of High School or Technical School Training.

Compensation The compensation for this position is $20.00 per hour.
