Job Description

Adelphi is seeking a psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric services within a secured correctional healthcare setting in DuPage County, Illinois. The psychiatrist will perform evaluations, manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective mental health care delivery for individuals in custody.

  • Requirements :

    • Current and unrestricted Illinois Medical License (MD or DO)
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
    • DEA license
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in clinical psychiatry
    • Knowledge of psychopharmacology and therapeutic modalities
    • Ability to evaluate and manage acute psychiatric crises
    • Preferred Qualifications :

    • Experience in correctional or public mental health settings
    • Familiarity with NCCHC and ACA standards
    • Strong interpersonal and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
    • Responsibilities :

    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and medication regimens
    • Provide medication management and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
    • Perform crisis intervention and assess risk of harm or suicide
    • Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff to coordinate care
    • Participate in treatment team meetings and case reviews
    • Document all assessments, progress notes, and treatment updates accurately in the EMR
    • Provide education to staff on psychiatric conditions and medication administration
    • Comply with all applicable medical, legal, and ethical standards
    • Any other duties as assigned.
