The Manager, Research Projects RN serves as project manager for clinical research studies, including but not limited to assisting in the development of recruitment goals; participating in the clinical study budget development and negotiation process; supervising a team of clinical research staff, including nurses and coordinators; communication of performance expectations; conducting performance evaluations; and monitors quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures within the team. Preferred experience : 1+ years of oncology research experience, leadership experience, clinical trials experience, critical thinking skills, strong organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include managing the components of a clinical research project, communicating and modeling values and mission, establishing, supporting, and promoting ownership of team / departmental goals, exhibiting strong leadership skills, effectively motivating team members, recognizing areas of responsibility and taking charge of them, accepting constructive criticism, assigning and reviewing work, encouraging appreciation and respect in the workplace, planning, organizing, and completing projects in an efficient manner, leading team discussion to generate cost-effective ideas, designing, developing, and revising standards, defining and achieving financial targets for the unit / area, developing clinical study budgets and negotiating with sponsors as well as internal departments, reporting findings that occur as part of the audit process and incidental discoveries to the director / administrator for auditing, correction and / or educational purposes, exercising judgment and preparing supporting or correcting documentation regarding institutional and federal billing policies, ensuring a safe, satisfying and enriching environment for employees and providing a qualified, competent staff, defining qualifications and performance expectations for staff positions and re-evaluating over time, assessing the composition of the team and identifying potential deficiencies, creating an environment that encourages and supports self-development and learning through regular, immediate feedback, assuring that each staff member's ability is regularly assessed in meeting the performance expectations stated in his / her job description, assuring the development of staff members through orientation, training programs and work experience, recommending personnel actions, counseling employees with regard to disciplinary actions, communicating in and across teams to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and information sharing, monitoring quality assurance standards, programs and procedures within the unit / area, analyzing situations / events, developing recommendations / plans and preparing presentations / conclusions, using innovative thinking when developing alternative solutions, distinguishing critical needs / problems from less urgent ones, participating in professional associations and development activities, actively seeking customer feedback to improve processes, systems, and outcomes, initiating and contributing to the development and / or modification of departmental policies and procedures, promoting the routine use of CQI concepts among team and department, creating and supervising complex QA / QI audits, utilizing PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Audit) format to document / implement CQI suggestions, attending institutional CQI class and applying concepts learned, employing concepts of business process re-engineering, actively identifying and participating in educational and developmental activities, collaborating with others to identify, develop and implement educational opportunities across the research community, nurturing a life-long learning environment, keeping abreast of and applying regulatory guidelines and institutional / departmental policies and procedures, performing continuous self-assessment, applying innovative thinking when developing alternative solutions, distinguishing critical needs / problems from less urgent ones, may present at national conferences / panels or contribute to publications, and may chair or serve on internal and / or institutional committees.
