Why work for the Town of Mead?

Protect children and pedestrians in school crosswalks and monitors traffic flow for safety at given times during the school calendar year. Develops relationships between the St. Vrain Valley School District, the Town of Mead, and the public. SCHEDULE : Hrs typically range from : 7 to 9AM and 2 : 30PM to 4PM throughout the school year.

    • Summary of Duties

    Controls traffic flow to provide for the safety of pedestrians, particularly for children and self. Interacts with public as needed to control traffic flow. Remains alert to safety and health issues; reports issues of concern to supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED

  • This position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and a 5-panel drug screen.

    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively while guiding students and pedestrians through crosswalks.
  • Ability to deal tactfully, but firmly, with pedestrians when enforcing traffic control.
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to see details at a distance.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to detect potential safety and health issues and report issues that arise.
  • Ability to use portable traffic signs.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing

    • Working Conditions : Working conditions are primarily outdoors with exposure to the natural elements
