Director of Facilities & Maintenance
The Director of Facilities & Maintenance leads all aspects of facility operations, maintenance, and asset management across Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's retail locations throughout North America, White River Marine Group manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and corporate offices, including Base Camp in Springfield, Missouri. This role ensures every property reflects the quality, craftsmanship, and conservation heritage that define the Bass Pro Shops family of brands. The Director will oversee a skilled facilities and maintenance team and collaborate across departments to deliver operational excellence, cost efficiency, and exceptional environments for Outfitters, customers, and manufacturing team members alike. This position is based in Springfield MO.
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the enterprise-wide facilities and maintenance function across retail, manufacturing, corporate, and distribution operations.
- Develop strategic plans that align with company goals, brand standards, and long-term sustainability initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety throughout all facilities teams.
- Partner with leaders in Retail Operations, Real Estate, Construction, White River Marine Group Operations, and Environmental Health & Safety to ensure consistent excellence across all sites.
Operations Management
Oversee daily facilities operations for retail stores, White River Marine Group manufacturing facilities, Base Camp, and distribution centers.Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all sites to protect assets, minimize downtime, and enhance operational reliability.Ensure each facility upholds Bass Pro Shops' commitment to quality, cleanliness, and brand experience.Lead continuous improvement initiatives for energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost control.Project Oversight
Manage capital improvement projects, remodels, equipment upgrades, and major repairs across all Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, and White River Marine Group facilities.Coordinate with Corporate Real Estate and Construction on new builds, expansions, and remodels to maintain brand consistency and operational efficiency.Direct vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring performance, quality, and safety standards are met.Safety & Compliance
Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADA, and other applicable codes and regulations.Partner with Safety and Environmental teams to promote sustainable and safe operations across all retail and manufacturing environments.Lead facility readiness and response during emergencies such as power outages, severe weather, and critical system failures.Financial Stewardship
Manage and optimize the annual operating and capital budgets for facilities and maintenance.Track expenses, analyze cost drivers, and identify efficiency opportunities across retail, manufacturing, and distribution footprints.Prepare clear, actionable reports for executive leadership detailing maintenance activities, performance metrics, and budget outcomes.All other duties as assignedExperience / Qualifications
Minimum Degree Required : Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management, equivalent experience considered.Years of experience : Minimum 10 years of progressive facilities or maintenance leadership experience in multi-site, multi-discipline operations (retail, manufacturing, or distribution preferred).Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Proven record of managing large-scale operational budgets.Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.Familiarity with manufacturing plant operations, including maintenance and regulatory compliance for production environments.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and facilities management software (e.g., CMMS).Ability to travel as needed across North America and respond to urgent situations as they arise.Travel Requirements
