Job Summary

As an Assistant Professor of Music, you'll be responsible for teaching music courses, conducting research relative to your area of specialty, and contributing to the music department's activities, while also mentoring students and potentially supervising student teachers.

Responsibilities

Teaching

• Prepare and deliver engaging lectures and lessons in music theory, history, performance, composition, and music appreciation.
• Design and implement course syllabi and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Potentially teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
• May involve teaching courses in a specific area of music, such as vocal or instrumental music.
• May coach students in one-on-one sessions and / or provide private lessons.

Required Qualifications

Doctorate degree in Music or area academic or performance specialty. ABD status will be considered for this position.

A minimum of three years of conducting ensembles.

Knowledge of online teaching platforms is required.

Strong teaching experience and a demonstrated ability to engage students.

Record of, or potential for, scholarly productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to teach applied strings, string methods, direct / coach string ensembles, and additional academic music courses as needed.

Ability to supervise student teachers.

Preferred experience working with and conducting college ensembles.

Proposed Salary

Salary range is from $51,600 to $58,000.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
