About the Division
We believe each child should receive individual attention, encouragement, support, and guidance. A variety of experiences are provided to develop the child's fullest potential. This includes preparing each child for the next step in their education journey. We have a strong commitment to the community, and involvement has been at the core of developing many social service programs offered through this agency. Full Day and Part Day spaces are available for families who meet eligibility requirements. This full-year program provides care and educational services 12 months a year. We strive to serve all children and constantly seek ways to accommodate the unique needs of children with disabilities.
About the Position
Under the general direction of the Site Director, the Teacher plans, organizes, and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum for children enrolled in the Child Development program. The Teacher provides a safe and nurturing environment conducive to the growth and development of children. This includes instructing children in activities designed to promote social / emotional, physical health and safety, and cognitive growth. Prepares lesson plans and assessments for school-age or preschool-age children; assists in planning programs and activities; and oversees assistants and volunteers in the classroom.

Option 1 : Applicants must hold a Child Development Teacher Permit or higher.
OR
APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT POSSESS A PERMIT MAY APPLY BY MEETING ONE OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS :
Option 2
Applicants applying for a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit must have 50 days of experience working with children (minimum 3 hours per day and within a period of 4 years), plus 12 Child Development Core Units, and be able to apply within 30 days of employment. Must be continuously enrolled until obtaining the Child Development Teacher Permit.
Option 3
Applicants applying for a Child Development Teacher Permit must have 175 days of experience working with children (minimum 3 hours per day and within a period of 4 years), plus 24 Child Development Core Units and 16 general education units be able to apply within 30 days of employment.
Option 4
AA or higher ECE / CD or related field with 3 units of supervised field experience in ECE / CD setting.
Bilingual in English and Spanish highly desirable.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR certification is required (30 days after employment). Must pass California Community Care Licensing fingerprint clearance to work with children. Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver's license and proof of automobile insurance coverage.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have access to an automobile with adequate vehicle insurance coverage and exceptional driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this class, an employee performs moderately heavy work; regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear both in person and by telephone; and use hands to operate, finger, handle or feel a variety of equipment; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift and carry a small child (up to 50 pounds) as needed in the event of an emergency. Sitting on the floor and getting up and down to assist children in the classroom. Must pass a pre-employment physical including a tuberculosis test and required immunizations.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions, read and interpret documents and information, use oral communication skills, and interact with City staff, residents, and the general public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed at indoor and outdoor program sites in seasonal weather conditions. The classroom and outdoor environment include outdoor play areas with climbing structures. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold, noise, dust, and dirt.
Special Conditions
Public Employee Disaster Service Worker : In accordance with Government Code Section 3100, all La Habra city employees are required to perform assigned disaster service worker duties in the event of an emergency or a disaster.
