This is responsible work involving the protection of life through the performance of emergency medical and fire suppression services.
Jurisdiction Annual Salary Range : City of Saraland $48,092 - $69,652 (per EMT Incentive Pay Policy City of Saraland #145). Amended 8 / 28 / 24.
Applicants hired as a Firemedic with the City of Saraland must pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) before entry into recruit school to maintain employment as a Firemedic.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from a standard senior high school, or successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and completion of emergency medical technician paramedic coursework; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid license as a credentialed Paramedic in the state of residence and be eligible for reciprocity from the Alabama Division of Emergency Medical Services if not licensed by this Agency. Must have current Board Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Certification as a Firefighter in Alabama must be obtained within the first year of employment. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence.
