Overview

GAI Consultants is seeking civil and construction engineering graduates for our Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Fishers, Indiana offices. This full-time opportunity offers both design and construction inspection on transportation projects throughout Indiana. If assigned to the field, a company vehicle is provided. The goal is to develop you into a well-rounded civil engineer and position you for a future Professional Engineer's license.

Job Duties

  • Transportation / Roadway design and inspection
  • Use of MicroStation CAD software
  • Material testing
  • Calculations of material quantities

  • Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy objects such as testing equipment and material samples
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and navigate steps, stairs, and ladders
  • Ability to work in hazardous environments and use required Personal Protective Equipment; environment includes dust, noise, tripping hazards, and overhead hazards
  • General Characteristics

  • Acquires fundamental knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area through mentored experience
  • Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment
  • Understands and complies with ethical codes
  • Minimum Years of Experience

  • 2+ years of experience
  • Education

  • B.S. Engineering or other technical degree
  • Technical Responsibilities

  • Performs basic design tasks
  • Assists with field activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing
  • Project and Task Management

  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope
  • No managerial responsibilities at this level
  • Management Responsibility

  • Receives close supervision on most aspects of assignments, particularly on difficult problems, with general review of work
  • Attains mentored experience from a licensed engineer
  • Communication Skills

  • Possesses basic oral and written communication skills
  • Practices professionalism and respectful inclusion in the workplace
  • Engages in limited project stakeholder interactions

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required)
  • 0–2 years of experience in Transportation / Roadway design and inspection (required)
  • Driver's license (required)
