Police Officer
The City of The Colony is seeking a dedicated Police Officer to provide basic law enforcement services in our city by self-initiated law enforcement activity and responding to requests for service from citizens. Every employee in this department must make ethical decisions daily conform to applicable laws and departmental policy, communicate effectively with our citizens and coworkers and remain professional in all circumstances.
The primary duties include performing all duties assigned to a Police Officer for the City of The Colony, operating a department vehicle safely, communicating effectively with citizens and coworkers, enforcing traffic laws and ordinances, producing detailed reports, investigating traffic accidents, responding to alarms, making arrests, physically restraining individuals, administering CPR and first aid, counseling with individuals who are mentally ill or mentally impaired, and performing other essential physical functions of the job.
The typical qualifications include maintaining minimal fitness levels, multitasking under stressful situations, driving a city vehicle safely, walking long distances, using authorized weapons, working independently, communicating effectively, and working with others as a team.
Education and experience required include a Texas Peace Officer License, US citizenship, a high school diploma or G.E.D., valid Texas Driver's License, no misdemeanor or felony convictions, no use of illegal substances, and no visible tattoos. Preferred qualifications include a college degree, prior law enforcement experience, ability to type 25 wpm, superior physical fitness, and ability to speak Spanish.
