Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg and ED swing position in an acute critical access hospital, requiring a compact or IA RN license and certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care, critical access hospital on a Med / Surg unit with swing coverage to the Emergency Department
  • 14-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1 : 5-6
  • Common patient diagnoses include CHF, pneumonia, and skilled rehab patients, with occasional progressive cardiac or diabetic care
  • No titration of drips required except for antibiotics
  • Charge nurse present on each shift; nurse aides (1 : 10 ratio) provide support
  • 12-hour night shifts, including every third weekend and rotating holiday coverage with core staff
  • Floating required to the ED for support
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Two shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Provide quality care as part of a small, experienced interdisciplinary team in a critical access setting
  • Must be comfortable working independently with fewer resources and able to prioritize patient care effectively
  • Team members are expected to be flexible, adaptable, and confident in their clinical skills
  • Travelers are integrated into a supportive environment with a five-star quality focus
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
  • Holiday coverage is assigned as needed alongside staff
  • All requested time off must be declared up front; additional requests will not be approved

  • Active IA or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience
  • Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
  • Must be able to pass a pass / fail open book exam on orientation with a minimum score of 90%
  • Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver’s license
  • Cannot have worked in full time, part time, or PRN capacity at any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the last year
  • Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
  • References : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
