Job Description :
The Department of Art and Design at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Drawing and Foundations. We seek a colleague with a dynamic record of research and creative activity that positions Drawing as a critical and expansive discipline. The successful candidate will be well-versed in contemporary artistic issues, possess a technical background, with a demonstrated ability to teach across all levels of a Drawing curriculum.
Candidates who engage both traditional and innovative techniques are particularly appealing, as are those who value interdisciplinary approaches to arts research and practice. This hire will teach a 2 / 3 course load and be responsible for leading the Drawing program, including curriculum development; oversight of studios; and nurturing collaborative relationships across the department and School of the Arts. This hire would teach across introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels of Drawing courses and contribute to the ongoing development of a new interdisciplinary Foundations course.
We seek educators who demonstrate innovative approaches to pedagogy and a commitment to inclusiveness and social concerns within the learning environment. We invite applications from colleagues who share in our commitment to a more inclusive discipline through their work and who will contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the School and the University.
The Department of Art and Design is a robust program offering BA and BFA degrees, serving more than 200 majors. Incoming faculty will join us at an exciting moment in the continuing growth of our program, as part of the School of the Arts which brings together the departments of Art and Design, Art History, Cinema, Music and Theatre. The successful candidate will be inclined to work collaboratively with colleagues in support of new and ongoing initiatives within and beyond the department, as appropriate.
