Overview
As a Field Engineer for Southland's Service & Special Projects team, you will be responsible for performing start-up, checkout, troubleshooting and commissioning of commercial HVAC DDC control systems. Also, may include preventative maintenance and service of DDC and HVAC control systems as necessary or part of scope.
What You'll Do
- Performs maintenance and commissioning of control systems.
- Installs, replaces and re-commissions control devices, equipment and software.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots software and hardware issues with controls systems.
- Performs required systems testing – sequence of operation testing.
- Communicates with internal / external customers via emails, service tickets, reports, commission sheets, etc. Interfaces with Project Managers, engineering, programmers, installers and customers.
- Detailed point-to-point check-outs and evaluations of building automation, lighting and access control systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Maintain accurate As-Built shop drawings.
- Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment (multimeters) and laptop computer.
- Assist in troubleshooting and commissioning of software programming.
- Perform training of building automation systems to customers.
- Perform job database backups on a regular basis.
- Complete paperwork on-time, including timesheets, work orders, on-site documentation, and project status reports.

Must have a strong working knowledge of HVAC Controls.A minimum of 3 years of related HVAC controls experience or completion of a formal technical education that includes HVAC controls knowledge.Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).Ability to read and interpret construction documents (shop drawings, mechanical plans, specifications, etc.).Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited school (or equivalent experience).Construction management experience is a plus.You Matter
