EPS Molding Process Technician
Department : Set Up 5020 | Reports to : Production Supervisor
You’ll be the go-to expert ensuring our molding equipment is set up right, running safely, and producing high-quality parts at optimal cycle times. Working side-by-side with Operations and Engineering, you’ll fine-tune processes, elevate quality, cut scrap, and keep production humming.
What a day looks like
Start your shift by walking the line and confirming machines are ready, tooling is configured, and safety checks (including lockout / tagout) are complete. You’ll dial in EPS molding parameters for each tool, validate first-article quality, and collaborate with operators on packaging requirements. When something goes off-spec, you troubleshoot fast—resolving mechanical, process, or setup issues—then document adjustments and complete required job specs, task lists, and paperwork. Throughout the day, you’ll coordinate with Engineering on tool improvements and new tooling recommendations, all while monitoring scrap and cycle performance to drive continuous improvement.
Core responsibilities
- Champion a safe, organized work area and follow all safety protocols, including lockout / tagout.
- Establish and optimize EPS molding processes per tool to hit target cycle times and customer quality standards.
- Continuously improve molded part quality through process enhancements and data-driven adjustments.
- Lower cost by reducing scrap rates on each tool.
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to specify details for new tooling : filling device selection, ejector type and placement, fill vs. non-fill side, bypass location, draft, and other mold cavity features.
- Recommend and implement tooling modifications that improve process capability and consistency.
- Support operators with packaging set-up and concerns.
- Set up, operate, and maintain production equipment for safe, efficient performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues; ensure machines are running correctly and efficiently.
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance to avoid downtime and sustain optimal performance.
- Complete all plant-specified job specifications, task lists, and required documentation accurately.
