Job Summary

This position is responsible for directing the operations of the School of Nursing, Health Sciences and STEM.

Projected fill date is July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the administrative head of the Academic School; oversees daily operation in accordance with the University System of Georgia and college policies and procedures.
  • Manages faculty recruitment and development; oversees and gives guidance to managers regarding the supervision of and evaluation of faculty; coordinates faculty teaching assignments.
  • Supervises and evaluates direct reports.
  • Manages curriculum planning, curriculum development, and course scheduling to maximize student success and enrollment growth.
  • Coordinates the articulation of school mission and goals; coordinates school committees to promote programs and student success.
  • Develops new curriculum to meet labor market demands and enhance college reputation.
  • Coordinates faculty professional development strategies.
  • Prepares and submits annual reports to the Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Develops budget proposals and manages assigned budgetary funds.
  • Meets with students to resolve curriculum and degree completion issues, mediates and resolves disputes involving faculty members and students.
  • Coordinates academic advising; develops and implements student retention plans.
  • Compiles annual and quarterly reports that are required by professional organizations.
  • Attends all USG and state meetings as appropriate; ensures representation on all relevant discipline groups within School.
  • Serves on committees dictated by the Gordon State College Statutes.
  • Oversees and develops community advisory committees, community partnership, and fundraising.
  • Promotes programs and enrollment through orientation or recruitment programs.
  • Teaches one class each semester as workload permits.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Completion of a doctoral degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

Three to five years of related experience.
