Project Lead Engineer - New Product Development
About the Role
As a Senior Engineer in the New Product Development (NPD) team, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, designing cutting-edge products, and bringing ideas to life. The successful candidate will be part of a cross-functional team of engineers technicians, operations leaders and production team members to complete new product development and growth projects as prioritized by the Semiconductor in-chamber business segment. You will lead and collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams, utilizing your technical expertise, creative problem-solving skills, and project management capabilities to guide the successful development of new products from concept to launch. Your contributions will be integral in shaping Watlow's future by introducing groundbreaking solutions to the Semiconductor in chamber segment of our business.
In the role of Senior Engineer, you would be located in Columbia.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Leadership of new product development projects from inception to completion. Assist in transition and collaboration with supporting teams to move product into production readiness and full product launch.
- Project leadership and coordination of cross-functional team members working on projects.
- Ability to interface directly with our external customers.
- Understand customer needs and requirements, assuring customer needs are central to projects served and solutions meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Focuses on improving (and identification of new) products or processes that impact one or more work centers / cells. Projects may include multiple Watlow locations.
- Manufacturing systems knowledge : FMEA, Process Flow and mapping, Production readiness / release for production requirements
- Solidworks for design of new products.
- Hands-on, mechanically inclined. Understands equipment.
- Defines scope, objectives, vision and activities of assigned projects based on user needs, and leads project activities.
- Involved in financial project reviews : work as a cross functional team when running financial analysis including understanding bill of material costs, labor time, scrap risk, etc.
- Determines scope, budget, and implementation timeframes of assigned projects.
- Demonstrates in-depth technical expertise for assigned projects.
- Problem solving skillset and ability to bring team members together with a common goal.
Required Qualifications
Advanced degree in field of specialization or Bachelor's degree and related experience, or equivalent experience (5-8 years)Supervisory training and experienceExperience in one or more engineering disciplinesDesired Qualifications :
Must have effective project management skills including communication, time management, team collaboration, budget and problem solving.Technical experience with thermal systems, electric heaters, temperature sensors, heat exchangers and / or flex leads.Strong understanding of moving a new product from development to full product release in manufacturing.Expertise in applying the principals of Lean product development and leading projects to successful completion in a Lean Project Delivery or Agile environmentProficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, SolidWorks, and / or Project Management SoftwareEnjoys developing new relationships with people while building customer and peer to peer relationships.Enjoys problem solving and collaboration.Solidworks for modeling / design.Benefits : The Watlow Total Compensation Plan
