Construction Project Controller Responsibilities :
Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets and forecasts in coordination with Project ManagersTrack and analyze project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipmentPrepare monthly financial reports for active projects, including variance analysisEnsure timely and accurate entry of project-related invoices, change orders, and purchase ordersAssist with cost-to-complete reporting, cash flow projections, and schedule of valuesMaintain documentation for audits, including contracts, receipts, and supporting reportsSupport project teams with budget setup, coding, and cost control best practicesParticipate in project kickoff and closeout meetings to ensure financial alignmentAssist with monthly billing cycles and progress payment applicationsIdentify risks and cost overruns early and make recommendations to managementEnsure compliance with internal accounting controls and external audit requirementsCollaborate with the finance department to reconcile project records and general ledger entriesSupport financial planning and resource allocation discussions during project lifecyclePerform other related duties as assignedEducation / Certifications / Licenses Required :
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field requiredPMP, CMA, or construction accounting certifications are a plusWhat do you need?
3–5 years of experience in financial project control, cost analysis, or project accounting in the construction industryFamiliarity with construction project lifecycle, contracts, and billing structuresExperience with ERP or project accounting software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE) is preferredRequired Skills / Abilities
Strong understanding of construction cost control, financial analysis, and budgetingAdvanced proficiency in Excel and experience with data analytics / reporting toolsAbility to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including operations, finance, and project managementDetail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and timelinessExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to interpret complex financial information and present it in a clear, actionable mannerStrong organizational and time-management skillsPhysical Requirements
Ability to sit for long periods of time 8-10hrs.Working Environment
Primarily work in an office setting with some travel to and from different business locationsStandard business hours, though flexibility is often required to accommodate schedules and deadlines.Use of video conferencing tools for virtual meetings and presentations with clients and team members.Must be adaptable to the dynamic nature of the construction industry and its financial cycles.
