Position Summary
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics, warehousing, inventory control, and procurement operations. This role will manage warehouse activities, supervise key staff (Warehouse Supervisor, Inventory Coordinator, Procurement team), and ensure efficient movement, storage, and distribution of raw materials, finished goods, and other supplies. The position requires strong leadership in operations, process improvement, compliance, and cost management to meet the company’s productivity, safety, and customer service goals.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead and develop a multi-shift warehouse team to meet daily operational requirements and annual performance objectives.
Direct receiving, storage, inventory management, and shipment of raw materials and finished goods across multiple plant facilities.
Oversee procurement of raw and non-raw materials, maintaining accurate purchase order data, resolving discrepancies, and negotiating favorable vendorterms.
Implement and sustain continuous improvement initiatives to optimize logistics, inventory, and cost savings.
Track and report key performance metrics to improve efficiency, reduce expenses, and mitigate risks.
Coordinate inbound / outbound logistics to align with production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
Ensure compliance with safety programs, PPE standards, DOT regulations, and hazard communication requirements.
Develop operational plans, adjusting manpower, equipment, and processes to meet changing conditions.
Optimize warehouse layout, storage systems, and floor space utilization.
Conduct cycle counts, year-end inventory reconciliation, and ensure integrity of all inventory records.
Build and maintain vendor relationships while identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative sourcing strategies.
Lead change management, employee training, and performance management, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
5–10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, warehouse, or supply chain management (experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment stronglpreferred).
Proven success in inventory control, procurement, and warehouse operations.
Track record of process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with ERP or warehouse management systems preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with high attention to detail.
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict management skills.
Analytical problem-solver with sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.
Customer-focused mindset with ability to balance operational needs and service excellence.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Manufacturing plant environment.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 50 lbs on occasion.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, protective clothing).
