What we do in India

  • ExxonMobil's affiliates in India supporting the Product Solutions business engage in the marketing, sales and distribution of performance as well as specialty products across chemicals and lubricants businesses. The India planning teams are embedded with global business units for business planning and analytics.
  • ExxonMobil's LNG affiliate in India supporting the upstream business provides consultant services for other ExxonMobil upstream affiliates and conducts LNG market-development activities.
  • The Global Business Center - Technology Center provides a range of technical and business support services for ExxonMobil's operations around the globe.

Role overview : Project Controls Engineer

The Project Controls Engineer (PCE) implements overall project controls direction through application of systems and methods for estimate development, cost control, planning and reporting, progress measurement, schedule development / control and management of change. The PCE has the capability to execute technical tasks as well as lead contractors. In addition to technical ability, a PCE should demonstrate sound communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

What will you do

Job specific responsibilities / tasks :

  • Provide overall project cost, schedule, estimating, progress measurement, and change management leadership and expertise.
  • Manage project cost and schedule throughout the project life cycle.
  • Fully understand the project scope, contractual requirements, identify major milestones and set clear priorities for the project team.
  • Lead the cost and schedule estimates for various Gate reviews and participate in the preparation of Gate packages.
  • Mentor junior project controls engineers and ensure the technical quality and timeliness of work.
  • Serve as a link to the Project Services Common Skill Center organization; gain alignment for support and approval of key deliverables (e.g., Estimates Development Plans, Estimates).
  • Develop and maintain the Project Controls related plans and procedures.
  • Ensure implementation of the stewardship process and champion process improvements.
  • Also : participate in kick-offs and ongoing meetings with Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors to ensure a common understanding of project controls requirements; gather lessons learned; develop project cost forecasts; act as budget custodian; lead financial close-out and other close-out activities.

  • Steward project cost / schedule with ongoing project analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and Change Management.
  • Coordinate collecting, analyzing, and reporting project cost and schedule control information to assess status and identify potential problem areas.
  • Analyze trends, prepare forecasts, opportunities and vulnerabilities.
  • Administer the project change control process and communicate implications of changes; steward the Change Management process.
  • Monitor and appraise the performance of the Contractor(s) in cost control, progress measurement and control by ensuring proper project control measures, endorsing plans and procedures, reviewing baselines and forecasts, and advising on corrective actions.
  • Develop cost and schedule estimates to support opportunity assessments, project funding, and ad hoc requests.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management from a recognized university
  • Minimum 3 years of prior experience in EPC or Project Management in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • 5-10 years of project controls experience focused on cost control, estimating, planning, and schedule control in Oil & Gas or Construction Industry
  • Experience in Brownfield oil and gas environments, offshore projects, and working knowledge of Primavera P6 (preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; strong English communication; proficient MS Excel and presentations
  • Strong influencing, mentoring, analytical, and computing skills; ability to convey recommendations to management
  • Willingness to relocate to Bengaluru and travel internationally as needed
