What you’ll do

The proposal writer works with the Partnership team to research and identify grant funding opportunities that align with the organization’s mission, and leads the writing, editing, and submission of proposals to funding agencies. This role collaborates with program staff to gather data, maintain records of proposals and outcomes, and develop relationships with funders to ensure reporting compliance. You will monitor grant statuses, provide updates to stakeholders, and stay informed about industry trends to enhance fundraising strategies.

  • Research and identify potential grant funding opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and programs.
  • Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals to funding agencies, ensuring adherence to guidelines and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with program staff and leadership to gather necessary data for grant applications and reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of grant proposals, submissions, and funding outcomes, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Develop and manage relationships with funders, including responding to inquiries and providing updates on project progress.
  • Assist in executing the development department’s strategy by providing insights on funding trends and opportunities.
  • Prepare and furnish supporting documents for grant proposals, including budgets and program descriptions.
  • Monitor and report on the status of grants and funding opportunities, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to fundraising strategy discussions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in grant writing and nonprofit funding.

Skills & Qualifications

Skills :

  • Excellent Writing and Communication : Strong written and verbal communication to craft compelling grant proposals and convey the organization’s mission.
  • Research Proficiency : Ability to identify funding opportunities and understand funder priorities.
  • Detail-Oriented : Strong attention to detail for accuracy and compliance.
  • Organizational Skills : Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Analytical Thinking : Critical thinking to assess guidelines and opportunities.
  • Collaboration and Relationship Building : Experience in developing relationships with stakeholders and collaborating with teams.
  • Fundraising Knowledge : Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising strategies.
  • Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • Experience : 3–5 years of grant writing experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with grant management software.
  • Knowledge of Regulations : Understanding of grant regulations and compliance.
  • Portfolio of Work : Demonstrated track record of successful grant applications.
  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 yearly. Compensation offered will be determined by level, knowledge, skills, and experience. Some roles may be eligible for a bonus. Benefits include : Regular holidays, floating holiday, bereavement, jury duty leave, medical / dental / vision with PPO / HSA plans, EAP, pet insurance, life / LTD / STD, 401k with employer match, and PTO starting at 120 hours per year and increasing with tenure. Some benefits may not apply to part-time roles or roles outside the United States.
